melcebu Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 when I have tried doing updates they fail and I get these error code It seems to be related to Microsoft security essential is it safe to uninstall it do the uploads then reinstall thanks
Mikes10 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Before un-installing MSE, install and run the free version of MalwareBytes https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/ and then install and run the free version of Ccleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download Restart and then try to get windows updates BTW:- What operating system are you using?
Zedders Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Also make sure your time and date are set correctly, that can screw up updating.
Mikes10 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 windows 7 still do the same ? If you mean still install and run Malwarebytes & Ccleaner: Yes In addition ensure your have the latest version of Flash Player: Version 16 0 0 305

Mikes10 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Flash Player: Check which version you have installed Control Panel > Flash Player > Advanced tab For IE-11 Version 16 0 0 305 ActiveX, for other browsers 16 0 0 305 Plug-in Flash Player Installation http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The latest version should install over the currently installed version, however you can always uninstall the currently installed version, restart and then install the latest version. De-select Optional offers for Google Chrome/ Google Toolbar & any other 'free' stuff.

Mikes10 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Recent older versions of Flash Player have been exploited by some adware, so best get the latest version. I'm not aware of a link between the error codes and Flash .
melcebu Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 thanks done all that and its worked a treat do i need to put the mse back or will it impede any more updates. thanks again mike
