Hi. I need to realign my Epson sx115 printer's print heads. The instructions tell me to right click on the printer icon that's in the tool bar and select alignment, but I don't have this icon. And which tool bar are they referring to? What could I do to get it, please? In case it affects the problem I have an HP Notebook running Vista. More details if required. Thanks.

Alternatively search for your printer and your problem on google. It'd save you waiting over 12 hours without an answer on a forum.

May be this

Click on "START BUTTON" in the right hand column click on "DEVICES and PRINTERS" then left click on the printer in question then click on the "ADJUST PRINT OPTIONS" button then click on "MAINTENANCE" button

This box pops up with "PRINT HEAD ALIGNMENT" on it

Whoops

forgot about this way

Get a web page on screen then follow this

Click on "FILE" then "PRINT" then "PROPERTIES then "MAINTENANCE

These instructions work on my Epson DX 4450 probably same for most Epsons

Thanks everyone. I'm working on each idea you gave but no joy so far. I'll reply again when I have good news.

1. There is no DEVICES and PRINTERS in the right hand column.

2. It isn't on my screen even if it perhaps did come on the disc with the printer. Where do I look for printer properties apart from the one referred to in 5 below?

3. I'm currently still looking on Google but so far the advice given doesn't work with my laptop. See answer 6 below.

4. The link you gave is for the DX4400, not the SX115. Even so I tried it a few times but it just froze when I tried to use the maintenance and head alignment option.

5. When I click FILE, PRINT I get a box containing choices of resolution, paper orientation, number of copies, etc and properties. But but this PROPERTIES doesn't contain a MAINTENANCE option.

6. I'm constantly being told on other sites (eg Google) to right click on the printer icon that's in the toolbar or the task bar. But the one in the toolbar doesn't result in maintenance or head alignment options. So how do I find the task bar. What is it? It looks like something had gone wrong with the data from the Epson disc that came with the machine, doesn't it? Or maybe there's something wrong with the Vista, something missing? There are two boxes that appear at bootup saying C:\PROGRA-2\04D51FSE.cpp and C:\user\amber\AppData\local\temp\ddcYpqom.dll cannot be found. But until now I've never had a problem with that. Are these error codes related to my head alignment problem?

7. If I type "printer maintenance" or printer head alignment in the search box after pressing start, up come a number of totally different files for me to choose. Does this suggest the register software has gone wrong?

8. I inserted the disc that Epson supplied and it just sat there doing nothing. Must I delete the original installation and then try again? I'm a bit reluctant to do this in case I lose everything ref the printer. Should I be ok if I do delete and try to reinstall?

Sorry I gave instructions for use with a Firefox browser.

For Internet Explorer it is FILE>PRINT>PREFERENCES>MAINTENENCE

Your printer and mine (DX 4450) are from the same family of printers manufactured around 4/5 years ago. They have 5 buttons and the ink and no paper warning lights on the top left of the printer they also use the same type of ink cartridges and have the same installation software. In fact the software is still the same for the latest Epson printers (well it is for my other Epson Expression HOME XP 315 printer).

Hi alankearn. I tried your suggestion but it didn't work for me. I got up a Word file and pressed FILE, extend and got PRINT but when I clicked on it there was no OPTIONS or MAINTENANCE option. I swonder if I was supposed to click PRINT while using Internet Explorer? I'll have a look at this possibility. Thanks for your intererst.

OK Kidorry and Wallace. I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. I've been in touch with Epson on line before about something else and they want to know a lot of info before attempting an answer so I'm preparing it all now. Thanks.

Hello again. Well it all worked out OK. In case anyone may be interested, this is how I did it using Epson 7.57EN printer and Vista. Start, control panel, printer, SX115, print preferences, maintenance, two letter A in a box. It then works. As you see there is no mention of toolbar or taskbar or right clicking on the printer icon (which didn't work anyway). Thank you all for your help and suggestions, which were almost right in some cases except that I followed the exact prescription given and it failed. But it was so close, so thanks again.
