nightrider Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Hello, I have a samsung smart tv connected by ethernet to a netgear router. Everything has worked fine for many months, then today the tv claims it is connected to the router, but not the internet. My laptop connected by wireless has an internet connection. Then I turned off the wireless and took the ethernet cable out of the tv and put it in my laptop - the internet worked fine. So this suggests the problem is the television - given nothing has changed on the tv, does anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Oh the plot thickens - I can watch Demand on 5 on the samsung, but both netflix and iplayer give the message about being connected to the router, but not the internet! Netflix works on my laptop though. Thanks, Nightrider Edited February 24, 2015 by nightrider
Ghozer Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 unplug the ethernet, then reset the network settings on the TV, then plug the ethernet back in....

longiesta Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 our Samsung has done exactly the same thing tonight. had to restart the router and it works now. could connect to the router but not the internet. how very strange
r-lane-0114 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I had numerous problems with Netflix on 3 of our Samsung smart TV's....check for updates on the Samsung website and install via usb manual method resolved it (yes I know the TV's automatically update but sometimes my tvs says there upto date but when I,ve checked on Samsung support site its a few revisions behind). This resolved it every time on my TV's which are all only 6 months old!!! my misses has complained to Samsung about it numerous times and we received a complementary set of 3d glasses and a letter of apology (but no explanation!!!)

nightrider Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Using SKY Hub by any chance?... I've got this Samsung Smart TV, model: UE46ES6300 Software version: T-MST10PDEUC-2004.1 , BT - G Have you got the same or similar TV? You're not alone, many people started having this problem since 24/02/2015.. I think it could be down to an automatic update or just a glitch in SKY Hub.. I've got the same issue. Mine says it got the latest update, which is: Current Version 002004 I have UE32ES5500 tv, and use my own netgear router with plusnet.
tzijlstra Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 That's the European union for you! Herr Samsung! Kanal Eins Bitte!
apelike Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 On a similar note my broadband router with EE stopped working for a few minutes yesterday. When it started again the I checked the router setting on the usual 192.168.1.1 and found that the access page and options were displayed different and the router firmware had just been updated. As some routers on different ISP's are made by the same firms I wonder if that could be the problem.
