sonnyboyblue Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 If you live in Sheffield you can't escape these two. People might already know my views on Amey, but today it's Veolia. My latest gripe is with regards to my blue box that was smashed down on the floor and broken in what I can only descibe as a resentful manner. You should watch the way in which our bins and boxes are emptied, If you get a spare few minutes it's worth watching. Your paying their wages don't forget. Anyway we request a new box. And again, it's dumped (I watched him) with a sense of resentfulness right outside my front door so all the family can trip over it. Does he take the old one that they smashed?.... No. Looks at it then speeds off in the lorry. Do I recycle this now or what? Take it to the tip? Throw it down the road? Now it's my problem you see and this is very annoying. I didn't smash it in the first place. I do what is required to enable efficient collection of refuse by Veolia and I expect the same level of respect and I expect good customer service. Is this too much to ask as a paying customer/ council tax payer? The blue box saga continues.... They come to collect it this morning. Put both boxes out. I watch. They empty with disdain and leave the broken box. I go to collect both boxes. New box strewn on it's side. Lid has been ripped off and nowhere to be seen and a quarter full of paper still. Old box further down the road and disregarded. Change old box lid onto new one. Starts hailing. Go in and make this post! Again It's my problem that I have to sort out. I've tried complaining in the past to these companies and and to councillors but nothing really happens does it? I just wondered what everyone else's opinions were with regard to these two companies quality of service and value for money. Is there any way to strip them of their contracts and give other companies a go as these two are proving time and time again they're not up to it.
Mindbending Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Biggest issue with Veolia is the number of times they don't actually collect on the scheduled day, but a day later. Yet, if my full bin is not at the kerbside by 7am (but in full view and clearly full), it will not be touched by them. It's called community spirit and it's lacking.
sonnyboyblue Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Yeah... Maybe. Common decency and community spirit. You might be on to something there. Yep, I think they despise us. They depise their customers/ wage payers.
esme Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Mod Note Bickering and insults have been removed, kindly discuss the topic without knocking lumps off each other.
AndyP728 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 No surprise really. Over the past year we've moved house and are now served by North East Derbyshire Council. My experience with these, all be it a short time, is MUCH better than SSC.
barleycorn Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 And for balance... our bins are placed exactly where we leave them for emptying, neatly by the side of the road. The only times they miss collections are due to adverse weather conditions and they've never broken our bin. jb
mrsb73 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Ive had 2 separate blue boxes smashed down so hard on the pavement after emptying by the operatives that they have broken apart, and watched them do it. Absolutely no need for it at all and cannot understand it!

esme Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Mod Note Ok I've cleaned up again. Last chance, you can discuss the topic or I can start suspending accounts.

I bet they get narked off when they pick one up and it pours water all down their leg, so probably take it out on the next box they come across.
