perplexed Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Poor critical thinking skills as a result of indoctrination? You're quite right. Indoctrination from a young age leads to a situation where the cycle is rarely broken.
bulldog D Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Poor critical thinking skills as a result of indoctrination? Is not the imposition of critical thinking in itself indoctrination? This is not a new idea but one that's been debated for years.
RootsBooster Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Is not the imposition of critical thinking in itself indoctrination? This is not a new idea but one that's been debated for years. That depends on your definition of indoctrination.
fatrajah Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 One of the definitions of critical thinking is that it is disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded & informed by evidence. Surely this a very good & useful ability to have; how can anyone object to it? Indoctrination is defined as the teaching of beliefs without questioning them. Isn't that the polar opposite of critical thinking?

fatrajah Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) This is a complete non sequitur. What on earth are you talking about? Edited February 28, 2015 by fatrajah
RootsBooster Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 This is a complete non sequitur. What on earth are you talking about? I think sometimes Teeny doesn't read the posts, she appears to think that each one is a personal attack against her or other Christians, judging by her replies.

No I don't see it as a personal attack I explain something on a way people here in Africa explain things , I only see a very small amount of the posts as I am using an older type phone and only have 6mb per 2 weeks .

gularscute Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If the message of the church is so good, essential and right in and of itself, why do the people behind it need to lure the kiddies in with toys and games consoles?
