scentral Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 My electric shower (Triton T80) is just over 2 years old. It has started making 'growling' noises, the amber light on the front does not work and the water temperature varies alarmingly - right up to scalding. It cost £200. Is it worth repairing or just getting another (+ of course, fitting)?
JBradleybz Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 To be honest i would put your money into a new shower or even go on ebay and find a like for like swap and you may save a load of cash cheers Jon at JB Heating.
dan2802 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Ive replaced 2 of these in the last week. A new Triton T80 8.5kw is £100 at Screwfix and itll take around an hour to change.

Apparently the way showers are made, they're not easy to maintain - for the amount of time you could have a plumber trying to get it working again, they could just as easily fit a new one.
punkin Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Sounds like you either have air trapped in the shower tank, put the shower on low and water flow on full to flush out the air and try again. When the tank is only half full it will boil - this is the noise you can hear. Or if its not that then it's the water pressure is to low, the water isn't flowing quick enough through the tank causing it to reach boiling temp, again causing that sound and creating air to be produced in the shower tank.

Electric showers are mains fed, not from a tank.
FORE Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Could punkin have meant tiny tank within the shower heater - or similar?
