Out of curiosity, what does everyone do to celebrate 'St Georges Day' anyway? Is there some kind of carnival or long-standing tradition that we all engage in, or do we just load up on booze and get ******?

Dont get me wrong , I'm not against it. hell, I'll vote for St Swithins day, Epiphany, anything that vaguely sounds like an excuse for a national holiday. Canadians celebrate Victoria Day after some old trout who used to be a queen here, and its quite a big thing on their calendar. For some reason, we dont.

Im in and voted YES. While I am here I might as well promote the seemingly lesser known but FAR more important day - Yorkshire Day 1 August

Wear your white rose with pride :)

I've voted Kirky. As soon as it getsp passed you get get me a pint on the bank Holiday

We do we do to celebrate other bank holidays? Whatever we wnat. It's the principal of it all.

Hopefully the country will make a day of it, fly the flags, pubs have specail days. Maybe the Govt can pass a law to make celebrations mandatory :D

Whenever i go down town i see St Patricks day celebrated but rarely St Georges day :suspect:

The scout association do actually celebrate St. George's Day every year, but this is obviously not enough. I asked my local landlady (on St.Patricks day) if they were going to celebrate St. George's day - she didn't even know when it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think warm flat beer should play a major part in events (I voted yes BTW).

I also think every village, town an city should then hold a St.George's day pageant like Salisbury.
