neeeeeeeeeek   10 #1 Posted February 14, 2015 Just a warning really. I had my house broken into at about 3pm today. They bricked one window to get in the house only to find the internal door locked so they must have climbed back out then they bricked another window to get into the kitchen, to find another locked door. This one they managed to kick through.  If you have window locks, make sure they are are locked. A few friends I have spoken to checked theirs and half were not locked. It just means that they are more likely to cut themselves getting in if they have to climb through the broken pane.   I kind of thought with electrical goods being almost worthless now that this sort of thing was rare. It seems not. All this mess and damage for a bloody TV.  Just to add, should you see anyone wandering around with a bloody telly then call the police! jane2008 Â Â 15 #2 Posted February 14, 2015 So sorry to hear this neeeeeeeeeek. These people, when caught, really need to be punished rather than get a slap on the hand. Â Don't take it to heart, it's not personal, they just don't care
 Share this content via...
robthesweep   10 #3 Posted February 14, 2015 Sorry to hear this neeeeek. I've been broken into when living in London. Its more than the tv. The fact that people have assumed the right to break in and enter your property is just infuriating.
 Share this content via...

Allen   38 #5 Posted February 15, 2015 Sorry to hear this. It's not a nice feeling seeing your home messed up by some scum bag. I was burgled a few months after my wife died. In a way they did me a favour....... It made it easier to pack up the family home and make the move to get the hell out and live the quieter life in the countryside. I hope they didn't take anything of sentimental value.
 Share this content via...
Marx   10 #6 Posted February 15, 2015 Damn. I recall your house, picked-up a laptop from there once. Need a hand fixing anything? I used to work in crime prevention.
 Share this content via...
neeeeeeeeeek   10 #7 Posted February 15, 2015 Cheers all.  Cheers Marx, I thought having metal grills over the doors would be a pretty good deterrent. Not enough though it seems.  Police have arrested someone so fingers crossed they can charge him. No sign of my stuff though. JFKvsNixon   11 #8 Posted February 15, 2015 It is a warning to people, I remember reading that most burglaries happen in the daylight. My mum had her purse stolen from the kitchen when she was upstairs during the day. The thief, can up through the back garden, and opened the back door to get it in broad daylight. denlin   12 #9 Posted February 15, 2015 I know you shouldn't have to do this but if I go upstairs during day I lock the doors
 Share this content via...
JFKvsNixon   11 #10 Posted February 15, 2015 I know you shouldn't have to do this but if I go upstairs during day I lock the doors  My doors are locked all the time irrespective of where I am, because of this.  The funny thing was, my mum only knew that her purse was stolen because the thief was caught by his mum with the purse, and he owned up to it. His mum then made him come to the house to apologise. If this hadn't have happened my mum would have probably have thought that she'd dropped the purse outside. cherriepie   10 #11 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) I was at home on my own yesterday while my OH was at work. I saw a youth coming down my path, I thought he posted something through the letter box but he tried the front door handle! I always keep my door locked even we we are home. He did a runner, probably when he saw the camera in the window, I couldn't activate it quick enough to take a picture! I called the police. They came and he said he was probably an opportunist burglar hoping my door would be unlocked ....at 2.30 in the afternoon???? dutch   68 #12 Posted February 15, 2015 We usually lock the doors but also have some very loud tingly bells attached to the inside door handles, no matter how careful one is it will make some noise.
 Share this content via...
