Syriza to get majority in Greece.

Recommended Posts

The problem is, as I see it, the UK media is controlled by right-wing interests such as Rupert Murdoch or UKIP's wealthy backers, or allegedly "public" organisations like the BBC who daren't risk cutting off their cash supply (the licence fee) by upsetting the establishment.

There are far left parties, such as the Greens, Respect and a few other Socialist / Up the Workers parties that shove a leaflet through my door every election time, but they never get the same oxygen of publicity that the established or better funded parties do.

So sadly, we're both stupid and not that brave!

So, in the age of the Internet where mainstream media like newspapers are dying a slow death, joe public still votes how Murdoch tells us.

If that's right (and I'd need persuading) we as a country are so biblically stupid I'm amazed people can actually function on a day to day basis.

The EU is undemocratic though. France and the Netherlands voted against the EU Constitution. Amazingly, as they were both held to be massively pro-EU. So what happened was that the EU constitution was dropped, but then just cut-and-pasted into the Lisbon Treaty.

The European Project is for ever greater political and financial union, and that's that.

The problem the UK has with the EU is imo that our politicians have never told us the truth about it. We have been lied to since day one. Not the fault of the EU, but of our own politicians.

It's going on even today, with the pretence that the English "regions" have somehow nothing to do with the EU, that it's all a UK thing. Not true.

There may be a debate to be had about a "Europe of the Regions" and the abolition of the nation state, but in this country we will never have an honest debate about it.

Our politicians have lied to us for fifty odd years about Europe, they aren't about to start being honest with us now.

I assume you have voiced your concern to your MP about the 'Snooper bill' being snuck into action through the backdoor? Presumably you find the UK undemocratic by those standards?

Wrong, Germany paid but their contributions were reduced substantially which enabled them to become the modern rich Germany they now are. Maybe Germany could now do the same and "forgive" Greece's debts.

Maybe next time you need to read the link you post, let me help you with this snippet:

The total under negotiation was 16 billion marks of debts resulting from the Treaty of Versailles of World War I which had defaulted in the 1930s, but which Germany decided to repay to restore its reputation

He was suspended first... There's news now that he was once kicked out of Respect for dodgy dealings..... his outrage and court proceedings about employing illegal immigrants was halted by his own legal team because he mislead them.... He was also a member of the Labour Party years ago :hihi: His Twitter account has been deactivated and he's been ordered to keep quiet by the Tories...

As sure as I am that snow is due he will be kicked out of the Tories very soon :hihi:

Nice hollow claim. Back it up with some figures and sources Retep, or is the fact that Germany paid no monetary reputations after World War 2 enough to shut you up?

As already linked, I quote the bit you seem to ignore.

"Under the London Debts Agreement of 1953, the repayable amount was reduced by 50% to about 15 billion marks and stretched out over 30 years, and compared to the fast-growing German economy were of minor impact."

And

"On 3 October 2010 the last payment was made with 69.9 million euro. This is considered to be the last payment of Germany on all known debts resulting from both world wars."

I'll leave the onus on both of you to convince me, both these posts don't do a lot in that direction, I'll also leave it to you to work out why, but let's say that A) reputability of sources and B) semantics are not necessarily your strongest points.

I will give you a clue here: After WWII it was universally accepted that the biggest reason for the outbreak of the war was that the war-reparations agreed after WWI were too punitive for the German state, this had resulted in the rise of the Nazi party, rather than demand monetary reparations the allies decided on a system whereby other assets were transferred to those that had suffered from war aggression.

Have a nosey around, you will be better for it.

But apparently not by Greece, who have the upper hand at the moment with the money they owe,

So if he was kicked out of Respect for dodgy dealings you have to wonder why UKIP took him on and made him into a MEP.
