Chick No1 fell off the ledge above clock this afternoon [2pm ish] whilst being fed and ended up on roof of Broad Lane University flats opposite. She was hopping back and for along roof, sometime flapping wings and lifting off a bit, but not confident enough to fly back. Parents flew over her a few times but didn't see her or chick No. 2 [back in nest box] get fed this afternoon.

Saw one of chicks being fed on ledge by nest box about 7.00pm. Guess that must have been chick no 2? Hope no1 is o.k.

I think she'll get fed there by mummy and start flying as soon as she can. Hopefully she won't end up on road if she attempts to fly too soon.

I gather that last year one ended up on cemetery floor as it wasn't quite ready to fly. But was then rescued and placed back up top.

One of the adult birds is back on it's perch at 10 pm.

And looking under the nest box I can just make out what must be a chick on the ledge at the far side of the nest box. Not a very safe place if it can't fly yet.

One of the chicks is on the floor in the church grounds. Informed RSPCA, they said to leave it alone

It won't last long on ground there.

It should be taken up and put on the roof straightaway.

What "should" be done is not necessarily straightforward, because intervention could have a negative effect too.

Luckily there are experts around who know what they are doing. They "should" make the call on whether or not to intervene.
