Can’t tell the difference between a P and a Q,

Recommended Posts

Warning signs when eyes don’t seem what they were,

Maybe trying to read and most words now look like a blur?

So off to Opticians you go to get the blighters checked out,

Just to put your mind at rest to take away the doubt,

On the wall a load of letters which they ask you to read,

Stumbling through the second line, quite clear its glasses you need,

When you can’t tell the difference between a P and a Q,

And is that a C or a D or it even could be a U,

Now established that you need those glasses,

Time to get a little advice from those helpful lasses,

Try these on love; let’s see what they look like,

What do you think? Do they feel alright?

Not too sure, try these on are they any better?

All this because you couldn't see that letter,

Then they say those words you don’t expect them to say,

Have a look in the mirror; do they look ok?

Love it John, I know the feeling.

It reminded me of One I wrote about William Tell.

I'll put it on here, if I can.

The apple of his eye

According to Swiss legend,

the archer, William Tell,

had got the local tax-collector

mad, as chuffin' hell.

He handed Tell a punishment,

which filled his heart, with dread.

He'd got to shoot an apple

from the top of his son's head.

The stories, that were handed-down

claim William's aim was true

but eighty-paces was too far

and, as the sharp bolt flew.

A bird swooped down, above his son

and landed in a tree.

He copped the arrow, in his eye,

as he looked up, to see.

Someone in the crowd cried “Ouch!

That's done the lad no favours.

Perhaps dad shudda paid a call,

to ye olde shoppe, Spec-savers!"

(Sorry!)
