TV repair needed.

Hi Good folk of Sheffield.

 

My TV (Sony KDL-40Z4500) has bust. It no longer powers on. Thinking it was a fuse, i changed this. Still doesn't work. I tried an alternative power chord, still doesn't work.

 

Anyone on here who is an engineer and or knows where to take it would be appreciated.

Try Hewitts on Ecclesall Road. They have a workshop and specialise in Sony TVs.

I tried an alternative power chord

take back off and check the fuse on power board.

Fuses rarely blow for no reason. So even if it IS a fuse then something more than likely needs fixing.

 

Temporarily getting it to power up again could make the eventual repair even more expensive or impractical if it causes further damage.

Yeah, you can often replace the fuse, the odd capacitor and maybe a resistor or two, but you don't know what other components have been weakened or will soon blow as a result..

 

I'll happily take a look, and happily attempt repair, but I can not ever guarantee that I will get it working, or that it will remain working for long after... (they usually last a good 6 months or so at minimum however)
