Amazing to see snow three days away from May. Has it ever snowed in May?

I believe there are photos somewhere of snow in August.

I can't find them but there are several articles if you google 'snow August uk'

I remember it snowed on 01/06/1976.It was my first year on site as an apprentice joiner. The summer turned out to be a scorcher, the government had to appoint a Minister for Drought.I think it was Denis Howell.

IIRC, snow stopped play at a cricket match (in Buxton, I think), in June, one year.

On 2 June 1975 snow showers forced the abandonment of several cricket matches across the country.

Earliest snowfall recorded: September, 1885.

It was June 1975. There wasn't any snow in June 1976. Howell was Minister for Drought in 1976.

See above.

It will be hail.

Snow hasn't fallen in August since records began. At least, where records are kept. Apart, possibly, for this: http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/the-first-snow-of-winter-falls-in-august-1.1052323

However, there are places in Scotland where patches of snow can survive over the summer:

I remember as a child we had flurries of snow on the Lincolnshire Wolds when returning from Mablethorpe one Whitsun in my Dads "Standard Flying 9".

I'm pretty sure it was 1959 when Whit fell mid May.
