I don't have the impression that Julie Dore was particularly well educated.

It's like I keep saying, we need a proper CV for every person who's up for election, not just a pathetic flyer through the door telling us to 'vote for XXX because he's been active in politics for 3 years and likes gardening....'

 

If we want to get the best team together we need to know all about them.

 

We also need to know more about how the council works - their website is a mine of non-information. In a time of multiple methods of communication it's worse than useless.

 

Anyone would think they didn't want us to know what's going on...

Reports early this year that they was a wide range of vote rigging in sheffield at the previous local election..

I think Julie Dore's pretty good actually. This appalling government is our problem, protecting the privileged few and asking the rest of us to pay for the catastrophic mistakes of the corrupt, incompetent and selfish bankers.

Can I recommend that anyone that wishes to criticise, tries to learn bit about what powers and decisions making rights our Councillors actually have.

It isn't easy to get to the bottom of it, but writing to Ms Dore might be a good start.

 

So much of Local Government and Administration is controlled by nationally implemented laws and regulations. Because of this and the complexity of it all, much of the control is in the hands of the unelected officers, the Chief Executive etc.

 

"Yes, Minister" was not far off the mark in both National & Local Government.

They have no choice to cut spending when the amount received from Central Government is being reduced dramatically but they still have the same statutory obligations to carry out.

 

There would be no need to cut anything in the front line if they cut waste.
