cuttsie   1,089 #99 Posted December 6, 2014 I don't have the impression that Julie Dore was particularly well educated. ---------- Post added 06-12-2014 at 21:37 ----------   There is a very fond memoir of Joan in Chris Mullin's diaries. Perhaps only Dennis Skinner is left to carry the torch....  Dennis is a top man who has done me a good turn in the past But ! he has two sports coats.  ---------- Post added 06-12-2014 at 23:50 ----------  :thumbsup::thumbsup:: Needs changing top to bottom, they have no drive,no desire They don't care about the people all they are doing is a job for themselves.  What has julie dore since she has been in power has leader of sheffield ?  Buildings half up Rubbish and litter everywhere Shops closing left right centre Street lights off throughout the city Holes in pavements People been made redundant no job growth ..full time permanent Bookmakers everywhere More homeless More street workers More having to go to food banks ....  Leader Sheffield City Council May 2011 – Present (3 years 8 months) Resident Involvement Manager South Yorkshire Housing Association September 2006 – September 2010 (4 years 1 month) South Yorkshire Housing Association Housing Manager South Yorkshire Housing Association September 1991 – September 2006 (15 years 1 month) South Yorkshire Housing Association Technical Officer South Yorkshire Housing Association September 1987 – September 1991 (4 years 1 month) Quantity Surveyor/Estimator Gleeson Construction Inc. Anna B Â Â 1,401 #100 Posted December 7, 2014 It's like I keep saying, we need a proper CV for every person who's up for election, not just a pathetic flyer through the door telling us to 'vote for XXX because he's been active in politics for 3 years and likes gardening....' Â If we want to get the best team together we need to know all about them. Â We also need to know more about how the council works - their website is a mine of non-information. In a time of multiple methods of communication it's worse than useless. Â Anyone would think they didn't want us to know what's going on... Detetcive   10 #101 Posted December 7, 2014 Resident Involvement Manager :hihi: That sounds a total non-job for a start, laughable.  No it doesn't - she was working for a housing association. Sounds like an eminently reasonable post.  ---------- Post added 07-12-2014 at 08:19 ----------  Sorry meant to put 30k* a year, that what the councillor leader gets to do bugga all,And they has definitely been a rise in population...massive .. Reports early this year that they was a wide range of vote rigging in sheffield at the previous local election.. doesn't surprise me one bit  You're full of crap. You're making a complete tit of yourself. You know nothing about this. You think 30k is a lot of money to lead a council? Get real sunshine.  ---------- Post added 07-12-2014 at 08:20 ----------  Someone with a bit of backbone who will stand up and be counted and listen to the views of the public   Sebastian Coe Kevin McCabe Richard Caborn Michael Palin   What planet are you on? None of these is an elected councillor and therefore they are ineligible.  ---------- Post added 07-12-2014 at 08:22 ----------  Do not worry about that count my vote.. labour has had its time in sheffield needs a fresh face a new start  Seriously? Labour is totally solid in this city and is highly unlikely to be ousted anytime soon
 Share this content via...
JuncoGardner   10 #102 Posted December 7, 2014 I think Julie Dore's pretty good actually. This appalling government is our problem, protecting the privileged few and asking the rest of us to pay for the catastrophic mistakes of the corrupt, incompetent and selfish bankers. cgksheff   44 #103 Posted December 7, 2014 Can I recommend that anyone that wishes to criticise, tries to learn bit about what powers and decisions making rights our Councillors actually have. It isn't easy to get to the bottom of it, but writing to Ms Dore might be a good start.  So much of Local Government and Administration is controlled by nationally implemented laws and regulations. Because of this and the complexity of it all, much of the control is in the hands of the unelected officers, the Chief Executive etc.  "Yes, Minister" was not far off the mark in both National & Local Government. spilldig   185 #104 Posted December 7, 2014 They have no choice to cut spending when the amount received from Central Government is being reduced dramatically but they still have the same statutory obligations to carry out.  There would be no need to cut anything in the front line if they cut waste. SYorksDeano   10 #107 Posted December 7, 2014 Is she still leader of the council? She's been that quiet over the past few weeks I thought she had gone a long time ago
 Share this content via...
dafodil   10 #108 Posted December 7, 2014 Perhaps we should have George Clooney's latest bimbo or Angelo Joli in charge, they would suite our socialist beliefs into the ground.  Judds Mrs could offer our silver marbles that adorn the piece gardens back to China or wherever they were made. Angelo would look good sat in the front seat at the World Snooker Final showing off next weeks washing.
 Share this content via...
