top4718 Â Â 838 #1 Posted November 18, 2014 Wayne Rooney is well on his way to becoming Englands leading scorer of all time but will you be pleased to see him reach the summit or is it totally undeserved and an insult to the past greats like Lineker and Charlton. Jim Hardie   527 #2 Posted November 19, 2014 Wayne Rooney is well on his way to becoming Englands leading scorer of all time but will you be pleased to see him reach the summit or is it totally undeserved and an insult to the past greats like Lineker and Charlton.  It's not his fault that he's played at a time when there's been no real competition for his place. Greavesie got his 44 goals from 57 games. He was the best.
 Share this content via...

Jonny5 Â Â 10 #4 Posted November 19, 2014 Also Rooney got the majority of his against fairly weak opposition. He goes missing against the better teams.
 Share this content via...
grand   10 #5 Posted November 19, 2014 either way you look at it he as gave is all to england unlike some liverfool players who moan there to tired to play and want to play in under 21's team
 Share this content via...
JonBladesman   10 #6 Posted November 19, 2014 I think Rooney become the man he needed to be last night. I only watched bits and saw his interview afterwards. Being made captain has done him good. He's starting to look like a leader now.  Wasn't sure about his leadership qualities till now. Well done Wayne.
 Share this content via...
glennC Â Â 10 #7 Posted November 23, 2014 Did anyone watch the Arsenal-Manchester United match last night?, a real captains performance from Rooney. Â When there was a bit of argy bargy between Fellani and Wiltshire, Rooney kept his calm where as a few years ago he would have been screaming in the refs face. Â I think making him the captain of Manchester United and captain of England will be the making of him.
 Share this content via...

JFKvsNixon   11 #10 Posted December 6, 2014 Also Rooney got the majority of his against fairly weak opposition. He goes missing against the better teams.  The opposition nowadays are a lot stronger and organised than they were during Charlton's, Greaves and even Lineker's days. SiSiSi   10 #11 Posted December 6, 2014 Can anyone do some research? Which of those mentioned scored most goals against Brazil, Germany, Italy & Argentina? Surely that would give a better indication of how good they were, rather than totting up goals against the Luxembourgs of the football world?  I'm too lazy to do it, by the way.
