Penistone999   10 #13 Posted November 18, 2014 Noticed once more that fly tipping is taking place on Rotherham Road 2mins drive from Beighton tip  When you ban certain vehicles from using a public amenity then that is the end result. badly thought out , stupid ,moronic policy making from SCC . The council created the explosion in fly tipping , the buck stops with them.
 Share this content via...

bazjea   10 #15 Posted November 18, 2014 The recycling sites are run by private contractors at the moment. Are the posters complaining about them suggesting they should be brought back under public ownership?  I think they must be if the quote below is anything to go by.  Quote "But that policy clearly isnt working ,as fly tipping keeps on happening. Back in the day when the tips were run by the council ,before they sub-contracted them out to their Buddies at Veolia, (who have since subbed them out to Sova), tradesmen and the lads at the tip had an understanding . The trades lads were allowed to tip their rubbish ,and the tip lads were looked after by the tradesmen at Christmas with a "Bonus" in their pockets." Blackbeard   10 #22 Posted November 19, 2014 When you ban certain vehicles from using a public amenity then that is the end result. badly thought out , stupid ,moronic policy making from SCC . The council created the explosion in fly tipping , the buck stops with them.  When John Selwyn Gummer, Baron Deben, was not force feeding his daughter beef Burgers he was inventing the landfill tax.  The UK Landfill Tax was introduced in 1996 by Conservative Secretary of State for the Environment, John Gummer, and was the UK's first environmental tax. Landfill tax is seen as a key mechanism in enabling the UK to meet its targets set out in the Landfill Directive for the landfilling of biodegradable waste. Through increasing the cost of landfill, other advanced waste treatment technologies with higher gate fees are made to become more financially attractive.  The amount of tax levied is calculated according to the weight of the material disposed of and whether it is active or inactive waste.  Inactive (or inert), (Inert is not the same as Inactive, Inactive covers a lot more classifications than Inert, though Inert does come under the classification of Inactive)waste covers most materials used in a buildings fabric as well as earth excavated for foundations. Most forms of concrete, brick, glass, soil, clay and gravel are classified as inactive. Active waste covers all other forms of waste such as wood, ductwork, piping and plastics. Inevitably there will be some mixing of waste such as inert bricks and concrete mixed with small amounts of wood or mineral dust packaged in polythene bags. It is for the producer of the waste to decide what is reasonable and acceptable in terms of active waste contamination of inert waste. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landfill_tax He beat comrade Scott by a few years
 Share this content via...

Penistone999 Â Â 10 #24 Posted November 19, 2014 And here we have someone coming to Jack Scott's rescue by trying to deflect the discussion away by blaming the Conservatives for this mess. Â It was Jack's ideas (as well as the immigration policies of his colleagues) that lead to the explosion in fly tipping and no one else! Â Correct. The government didn't force the council to put up barriers to stop vans using the dumps. Â Neither did the government force the council to stop letting the public in with small trailers unless they book in first. Â These idiotic decisions were made by SCC and defended by comrade Scott and his cronies . The council created the fly tipping problem with these moronic policies but they try blaming the public for their sheer incompetence .
