mart   71 #1 Posted November 5, 2014 Is Activity Sheffield just Sheffield council wasting council tax payers money again? They are paying a subcontractor to encourage people to become more active. How difficult is it for the individual to simply become more active themselves-maybe with a bit of advice at the docs from the nurse?. If these really was a need for such a service, shouldn’t it be from the NHS ?
 Share this content via...
cytine   40 #2 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) These are the sort of political non-jobs that should be cut. But the council would rather cut essential front line services so they can blame the nasty Tory cuts. I thought there was a major problem about people not taking enough exercise?  You have some job in mind care to link it up? You seem to know about how its funded care to link that up as well? Not sure Drs would want to be deluged with requests if the peson just wants advice on taking steps towards fitness and where they cna get classes or advice?  ---------- Post added 05-11-2014 at 16:04 ----------  Please link the non job up and then other people can make their own min up whether its a good idea or not. 999tigger   10 #6 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Show us the link.  I believe its contained in Health and Social Care Act 2012  S12 Duties as to improvement of public health  After section 2A of the National Health Service Act 2006 insert— “2BFunctions of local authorities and Secretary of State as to improvement of public health  (1)Each local authority must take such steps as it considers appropriate for improving the health of the people in its area.    Now you show us the links to what you are going on about. If everyone in the country did the recommended levels of physical activity it would save the NHS i.e the tax payer, billions of pounds each year. 999tigger   10 #10 Posted November 5, 2014 Google is your friend. (Your fingers probably need the exercise) Who`s shown you what a link is?  Now you are proving yourself to be stupid. You open a thread but you are unable to explain fully what you are going on about. You raised the issue, its hardly unfair to get an idea what your complain is based upon and whether you can back any of it up.  You fail to explain how Activity Sheffield is funded but make the assertion its from Council tax.  You fail to appreciate the UK is undergoing a major public health crisis un terms of obesity.  You fail to understand it is the legal duty of local authorities to promote piblic health. 999tigger   10 #12 Posted November 5, 2014 Do you need to be shown how to use Google?  You really are being stupid. You are the one making the claims. You started the thread so please provide the details so we know what on earth you are going on about. Presumably you know and the idea is to share your thoughts with everyone else.  The only conclusions possible is that you dont know or you wish to keep it a secret. What is it about activity Sheffield that you object to? have you had dealings with them? Is is a specific job? Care to show us which one?  How do you know the money comes from Council tax? What is it about a local authoruty promoting public health that you think is a waste of time?
 Share this content via...
