Everyone says he looks ill, but why, what has he been doing to himself?

What was that big boil he had and what's with the needles, is he on opium?

he went to London for therapy to cure his homosexuality:loopy: and part of this therapy involved injecting himself with I think saltwater ,which poisoned his body . I think at the start the writer wanted viewers to believe he was an opium addict

Well the show's timeline has covered a period of over ten years, even if the characters haven't changed one jot or one wrinkle! That is probably the average life of a dog.
