Web designers are notoriously rubbish at SEO as they are coming from a different perspective. PM me what you have in mind.

 

Not rubbish, it's just people assume that because you can build a very good website you're automatically the master of SEO. SEO is a completely different thing to building a website. You can build a website with things in mind but it's still not the same.

 

Just don't believe anyone that say they'll automatically get you into Google's first page of results for a very common search term.

You really don't need to pay someone to do SEO, it's easy to do after about an hour of reading and googling...

 

It's all about dynamic content, keeping it fresh, active, up to date, and relevant...

 

That coupled with a properly coded website, you'll have no problems...

 

No, it's not going to happen overnight (even 'professional' SEO isn't instant), but it will happen...

I usually say up to 3 months before seeing any sort of noticeable results in site stats.

Why don't you try SEO on your own. There are few reputed blogs, moz, searchineland etc which will guide you for latest updates and strategy fo promoting your website.
