sheff1johnny   10 #14 Posted September 28, 2014 Mobility needs confirmation from GP? I could be wrong now but sometimes it needs investigation to battle fraud.  that bit is all taken care of. actually as daft as it sounds it can not be filled in by your GP anymore. It can only be filled in a medical professional who helps with your care needs, such as a cpn, or a physiotherapist. Makes me feel sorry for people who only have a GP, in charge of their care. Annie Bynnol   612 #17 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) For a Disabled Persons Bus Pass it is 28 working days. Source: SCC today  If your original application is rejected on the grounds of not having a health specialist or support etc. then the case can be heard on appeal. This provides those people who have disabilities/illnesses and do not have specialist help (e.g. ASD) to put forward their documentation and case. mrs grissom   10 #18 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) And good luck to you when you do apply for the travel pass. We are now five weeks waiting for my husbands mobility bus pass with companion card to be issued . This despite us fulfilling the criteria for the pass and correctly supplying it to the council . Every single employee we have dealt with , both at the council and transport executive have failed to do their job properly and we've been left annoyed and out of pocket . Our official paperwork has been either lost or not copied properly. When we finally received the letter of authorisation ( after two visits to First point and four phone calls) I took it to the Interchange to apply for the pass and the man on the desk ordered the wrong one ! Don't worry he ( and his supervisor ) say , we'll redo it correctly when this one clears the system .guess what ! We received the wrong one last week . Surprise ! Another phone call to the supplying company and we are still waiting but not hopefully Wednesday this week . We shall see. dutch   68 #19 Posted September 30, 2014 Person to person contact at interchange is still the best way to communicate to solve matters even if they make mistakes it does make things happen quicker and easier when done face to face. Ask the questions, when the answers are mediocre, ask again, insist on some solid line of action to get things done, it helps. sheff1johnny   10 #20 Posted October 28, 2014 Well pass applied for, all letters provided, but due to questionable questions asked by sheffield city council bus pass denied. Nowadays you have to be able not to walk at all, to be able to get a bus pass. This is probably another result of Sheffield city council punishing the disabled. one for example 1. do you go to the supermarket? dutch   68 #22 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Well pass applied for, all letters provided, but due to questionable questions asked by sheffield city council bus pass denied. Nowadays you have to be able not to walk at all, to be able to get a bus pass. This is probably another result of Sheffield city council punishing the disabled. one for example 1. do you go to the supermarket?  It used to be that if you cannot drive for any medical reason you get a medical pass. I can walk but if I get in a car (as a driver not as passenger) I will commit attempt at manslaughter.  I have a car key in my pocket and a disabled pass and can get in it and drive away risking lives if I want or take the bus. This car is used by someone else and I haven't used it for years and use the safety of the pass. But would rather commit manslaughter than pay more money for busses being so much worse costing extra for so much lesser value. If busses would adjust their fees and lower it to compensate for their lesser value I would not object paying for them.  ---------- Post added 29-10-2014 at 10:56 ----------  I have always thought that if I would not have the privileges of a disabled pass I would cycle and walk. Then I would end up in hospital approximately three times a year and ambulances, emergency services would be needed. It all depends, they are saving loads of money by giving disabled and pensioners a pass and would not save anything at all if they were to change it. Other expensive social costs would increase. One of these little medical incidents safe on a bus can cost the taxpayer more than £10.000 on the sidewalk. sheff1johnny   10 #23 Posted October 29, 2014 I know council has to save money, but I feel it is at expense of disabled people yet again. When the only people who can be issued with a pass are those on high rate mobility. These are the people who in reality can or should not be walking to a bus stop. A more sensible approach would be people who have been on low rate mobility for at least 5 years with the same medical condition should automatically qualify. I always thought the bus pass was to promote a better lifestyle for the majority of disabled people.
 Share this content via...
