Your favourite DJ

Recommended Posts

Ranking Miss P – on DBC (Dread Broadcasting Corporation circa 1980).

David Rodigan – Radio London, Capitol Radio, BBC1Xtra, R2.

Mark Radcliffe and Mark Riley (Mark and Lard) – together or separately on R1, R2, 6Music.

The late Charlie Gillett – BBC World Service.

Andy Kershaw – BBC whatever.

Oh yes, and our very own, dj melthebell.

Personally, I prefer DJs who play two or three tracks, tell the listeners what they were, and then play three more tracks, with very little chat in-between, apart from anecdotes about the musicians or the tracks they've played.

If I'd had the pleasure of hearing Wolfman Jack, I'm sure he'd have figured up there too.

I think everyone owes a bit of their musical taste to peel.

Growing up a teen in NY, was envious of the Peel sessions everyone got here. The only way to listen to them was on bootlegs and sharing tapes amongst friends.

Which disc jockey/s are and were your favourites?

I sometimes listen to Chris Evans but in the 90s it was Nick Abbott - where is he now?

I wanted to listen to Chris Tarrant but couldn't access Capitol Radio

I'm not keen on the chit-chat which goes on where the resident DJ natters to a whole lot of backroom staff for too long.

Nick Abbott is on LBC.

I agree on the first bold, I hate it when a DJ plays something new, that you like and then never says who it is by!

As for "The Wolfman", he played himself in American Grafitti, great film, here
