Colin Foster   70 #1 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know how long it takes to sort faulty street lights out. A large section of our road has been pitch black for a month because Amy have decided to fit old fashioned sodium lights on our road instead of LED which aren't controllable and are on all day and as a result have blown the central fuse. About half the street reported it within two days  So much for upgrading to LED, they're installing the old sodium lights in areas being upgraded now, which don't switch off and use a lot of current which blows the fuse. How hard can it be to change the fuse, even I could do it, I've got a lot of spare fuse wire. Paddy   10 #2 Posted September 20, 2014 Are you sure they're installing the old type of light? Can't see why they would do this!  Whereabouts is this near?
 Share this content via...
Colin Foster   70 #3 Posted September 20, 2014 They've started this week on the streets around the Hallamshire hospital, all the lanterns on top of the new poles are the old fashioned energy wasting lights.  They've put really old lights on the new poles on our road, even though the rest of the area has the LED lights. And because the old ones aren't meant to be left on all day, they have blown out within a fortnight.
 Share this content via...
hotrock   10 #4 Posted September 20, 2014 From what I have heard, the new LED fittings are en-route/awaiting delivery, and the sodium lights are just a temporary fix until they can catch up. So you will eventually get the new LED lights, but when could be anyone's guess
 Share this content via...
mike84 Â Â 23 #5 Posted September 20, 2014 Why don't you phone up and ask? Surely you're more likely to get an answer to your question? Â Usually, if it's more than a couple of lights that are off then it's likely to be a fault that Northern Power Grid have to attend and repair.
