diggerdigger   11 #1 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) The big tree on Thornbridge Drive / Thornbridge Avenue junction is being felled by Amey Group on behalf of Sheffield Council very shortly due to its "unsafe condition" they claim. They also expect to remove most of the roots but surely after about 80 years they could spread for miles under the houses in the area causing possible subsidence and underpinning having to be employed, mine included ! Daven   10 #3 Posted September 19, 2014 When first reading the title I thought the OP was referring to the Big Tree pub in Woodseats being felled - although this would have been a cause for celebration imo.
 Share this content via...
Zarniwoop   10 #4 Posted September 19, 2014 I think that 'run for miles' is a bit unlikely. AFAIK the diameter of the main tree root spread is usually no more than the height of the tree, though I think Willow trees might exceed this.
