Would it be a good idea for items to be advertised in this section.... Instead of more specialised items getting lost in the huge list of general sales and wants section?

The problem with advertising items in the groups is that the items couldn't have the same structure and automatic deletion date as they have in the marketplace, meaning that we'd have to tidy up behind them manually or risk a whole load of out of date ads for items which are no longer for sale in the groups.

 

Additionally, when we did allow listing items in the groups it turned out that in over 90% of occasions this was not treated as an and/or by the user posting the ad, it was treated as a duplication, and that breaks forum rules too.

 

We stopped allowing items for sale in the groups for just those reasons, and they haven't gone away since then.

 

I'm going to close this, as it's really not up for a discussion. The decision was made for good reasons and those reasons are still valid.
