Nagel Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 What's up with the house at the top of Manor Lane opposite Manor Lodge? It's a typical 30s detached house, but it's got a 12ft high heavy duty security fence all the way around it, behind which all kinds of junk is piled high. There's also security lights attached to the house pointing outwards. It's definitely odd and stands out like a sore thumb. What is going on?
Stranza Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 It's been like that for years. When we were small there was an 'odd' amount of interesting stuff there now it's piled high.
savage86 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Maybe its Sheffields version of area 52, like maybe there's an alien in there like ET who just wants to phone home but they won't let him because the phone bill would be astronomical. Maybe... Just maybe...
vwkittie Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Just looked at it on Street View - is the lodge that derelict place? What's the deal with that?
Stranza Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Just looked at it on Street View - is the lodge that derelict place? What's the deal with that? The lodge is the turret house and ruins. Sheffield manor or manor lodge or manor castle. The house is the single detatched just near manor park crescent, manor lane junction

Tyranna Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I thought there was a small former police station like a little modern house in that area? I know all of those small police boxes like at Fitzalan Square have been disused for a few years now, as manpower is focused on the large 24 hours stations.
rossyrooney Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It was originally called the Stand House, the local Post Office proprietor Mr. Wilf Richardson had the P.O. that was on a parade of shops opposite which went down to the Manor Castle public house.
L00b Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 If you think that one's odd: I got briefly lost off the A57 between Worksop and Anston (there's a turn off onto what looks like a dirt track, between the kennel and the golf club) last Sunday, and there are some very large houses tucked along there...one of which has what looks like a SAM launcher (and it really does, with ramp with multiple missiles - and not a DIY job either, looks like the real deal) painted black and yellow, in its front garden, protruding above its 7+ ft brick enclosure!
