wmoham001 Â Â 10 #1 Posted September 2, 2014 Hi all, Â I want a house alarm installing but have no idea where to start. For example: Â are the wireless ones just as good as the hard wired ones? Â Is it messy business installing wired as no doubt holes would have to be drilled & carpets/laminate uprooted? Â Any manufacturers people would recommend/stay clear from? Â And finally, any recommendations in terms of installers? (I am near Northern General Hospital for info) Â Many thanks.
 Share this content via...

ll49 Â Â 10 #3 Posted September 2, 2014 We had ours installed by Waveney Alarms. It's a mixture of wired and wireless throughout the house and garage, and all of the doors and patio doors have sensors so we know everytime they are opened, and if opened when the alarm is set they instantly trigger the alarm to sound. Â Also, we have pets so Waveney made the sensors animal friendly so we are able to set the alarm at night and the animals can have free roam of the house without triggering it. Â I would recommend getting a proper company to install it for you, after all home security is extremely important, and not something worth scrimping on. Doesn't look a bad option at all. I will read into it and see what others say.
 Share this content via...
biotechpete   10 #6 Posted September 2, 2014 My only advice would be check with your insurance company to see who they recognize. Usually they will ask if the alarm is installed and maintained by an [insert installer body] registered company. The NSI is one such body I know of. IMHO there's not much point in having one unless you save on insurance.
 Share this content via...
GTR Roofing   10 #7 Posted September 3, 2014 When I was a kid we were burgled twice - my Mum & Dad then put fake burglar alarm bell covers on and stickers on the windows and never burgled again! Must real DIY kits come with instructions but it is a bit complicated. Try searching for DIY alarm installation videos on YouTube.
