Fairly certain I came here with more than most Brits ever owned. But yeah, let's ignore that and carry on thinking all immigrants are of the streets of Warsaw and Bucharest and came here hitchhiking with nothing but a passport eating out of bins until they found a carwash that would hire them.

If we get out of the EU we could boot them straight back out if we didnt want them here. Sadly at present, because of the dictators in Brussels we cant kick them out as soon as they appear in the back of a curtain sider.

your taxes are going towards our membership of the circus in Brussels and overseas aid . Both of which are drains on our country .

 

You have to find them first. Secondly, there is international pressure to take people we might not want to, countries, even now, push for sanctions against us if they feel we are not pulling our weight/take our quotas etc. It would be a lot worse if we spat the dummy out and left the EU

If you think leaving the EU will stop immigration then go and have a look round non-EU Norway and Switzerland and see how many immigrants live there.

 

Over a third of Switzerland's population was born to non-Swiss nationals. In Norway it's 14%. In the UK it's about 11%.

She didn't actually say she wanted to stop immigration.

 

I'm sure we're all agreed that some immigration is good for the country, the difference of opinion seems to be on the extent.

It does, our border agency is part of a European network monitoring illegal immigration, profiling human trafficking organisations and stopping them by prosecuting them in European courts. The EU funds part of the costs of UK border agencies, helps in setting up contacts with other border agencies both in and out the EU and negotiates with countries where most illegal immigrants come from in an effort to improve information flow.

 

It sets up and funds refugee camps at the most likely border crossings abused for traffickking, such as Lampedusa and in Greece and Roumania to stop illegal immigrants actually getting into the EU and helps fund their repatriation.

I didn't say it would fix illegal immigration.

 

This thread relates to the number of legal immigrants coming into this country, the majority due to the open EU border policy....I'd like to see that stopped.
