Yes you can

It takes between 40 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Traffic delays or accidents will affect this however.

Google will help you if you need to plan a route. You can even make a printout and take it with you.

Yes, because Google Maps for that journey is going to be massively incorrect and put the M1 someone down near Bristol

People just like to have a go. The truth is with things like routes from A to B, getting advise from more experienced travellers is always your best bet.
