LeMaquis   10 #13 Posted August 16, 2014 Yes but the reasons dont make sence due to most accidents NOT being caused by speeders!  Of course if people were allowed to drive as fast as they wanted then most accidents would be caused by speeding drivers. The fact that they're not shows that speed restrictions work.  Sorry to have to point out the bleeding obvious.
 Share this content via...

Penistone999 Â Â 10 #15 Posted August 16, 2014 Pure and simple, don't speed, the speed limits are there for a reason. Â You never drifted over the speed limit then ?
 Share this content via...

Squiggs   11 #17 Posted August 16, 2014 You never drifted over the speed limit then ?  Given the context of the thread, I assume by "drifted over" you mean "exceeded by going almost double in a conscious attempt to outrun another driver"? Ravenger   10 #19 Posted August 16, 2014 The M62 variable speed limit cameras are GATSO type, so they do flash. They're not to be confused with the average speed cameras mounted on yellow poles which are often used in roadworks. They don't flash.  I expect similar GATSO cameras will be operating on the M1 when the 'smart motorway' improvements are complete. rudds1   102 #20 Posted August 17, 2014 No sign was showing. We shall see in a few days if I get a letter through post  If it was a (friend ) who got flashed why would you be getting a letter ?
 Share this content via...
Squiggs   11 #21 Posted August 17, 2014 If it was a (friend ) who got flashed why would you be getting a letter ?  Well, duh! Obviously the "friend" doesn't have a telephone or an email account, and is not local (unless I missed the bit where the M62 diverts through Sheffield, hence it being in Sheffield discussions) so will write to the OP to complain bitterly about the harsh judgement.   I thought that would have been obvious
 Share this content via...
ryder8904 Â Â 10 #22 Posted August 17, 2014 Is speeding really worth it these days? They are covering all the main motorways with average speed cameras or the overhead regular cameras. It would not be so bad of it was just a fine and points, but now your insurance company uses the points to rob you blind for several years. Â Motorists are seen purely as cash cows for local authorities , the plod and the government to fleece and rob at every opportunity . Their obsession with slowing motorists down to crawling pace and sticking their revenue collecting cameras everywhere is simply financially motivated. If you indeed "crawled" at 70mph you must have been the fastest baby known to man
 Share this content via...
