PeterR   10 #1717 Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) Just in case anyone is wondering why there is a smiley face instead of a No.8 at the side of The Who Can Tell. I haven't got a clue. I edited a spelling mistake, the No.8 disappeared and the smiley face refuses to go away. Thanks for the Prince of Wales Feathers info. Feathers, well thats something else I've learned.  Hi cat631,  I've been wondering if Feathers is correct, but see the post below which seems to confirm that at least two others have the same recollection of how I recall The Feathers. My parents have passed on long ago. Wish I could ask them about their memories, like one does.....  http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9120245&postcount=4875  My memory tells me that there was a Prince of Wales Feathers heraldic badge sign hung on the Adsetts Street side of the pub. However I was only 14 when I left Grimesthorpe in 1957, having lived on Adsetts Street since birth, so I can't be 100% sure. .  The name was/is used on lots of pubs. Here's one in London.....  https://www.view.co.uk/london/v/prince-of-wales-feathers  Here's one in Birmingham not using the word 'Feathers' part of the name, but has a heraldic badge sign. Scroll about half way.....  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/11774414/The-Prince-of-Wales-Birmingham-pub-review.html  Here's some info. about the heraldic badge.....  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_Wales%27s_feathers  PS Have another look at my post 1719 pg 86 as I've put a photo on of a Magnet Ales sign. You should be able to see this one more easily  Peter. Edited June 21, 2017 by PeterR
 Share this content via...
