Why our boycott campaign against Israel makes sense #BDS

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear all the Islamics views on the following:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20959228

and also this headline

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-28851512

Quoted ""This apparent intimidation and surveillance of victims of human rights violations and activists adds another sinister layer to Saudi Arabia's use of the death penalty," said Amnesty's Middle East and North Africa programme deputy director Said Boumedouha."

Maybe we should boycott Saudi Arabia as well?

or is this different....

I'm no islamic but that's how they choose to live in their own countries.

The wee girl allegedly killed a baby, the three guys were dealing drugs, .. in countries that condone a woman to be burned to death for allegedly offending family honour these executions sound pretty tame day to day stuff. Well ...every other day in saudi from the quoted article.

It would seem that girl was not in a position to buy off her sentence maybe they don't do that in Sri Lanka. It would seem that guys probably did not offer enough. It all appears to come down to money in saudi. A rather extreme version of the rich do what they want and all is well as long as the poor also do as the rich want.

It is a little bit the same in the UK but not so blatent or perhaps as bad, perhaps our society having existed longer is more evolved.

.

As an after thought ... does saudi arabi produce anything we can boycott.

OIL... well that's not going to happen.

Might as well let them get on with reducing their own population then.

Only amnesty international seem to care and they have no teeth.

Russell Brand opposes anti-Semitism after death threats: 'We must disavow all forms of prejudice that lead to exclusion and execution'

Russell Brand has been vocal in his criticism of the media coverage of the Israel-Gaza conflict. Particularly in his satirical YouTube series, The Trews.

He memorably dissected FOX News reporter Sean Hannity’s pro-Israel bias that appeared not to recognise the disproportionate number of Palestinian casualties and disallowed Palestinian guests on his current affairs show from being able to be an active part of the debate.

He recently took on Bill O’Reilly, also of FOX News, his self-congratulatory reporting of the Islamic State after the beheading of American photo journalist James Foley.

But it was a video he made highlighting an Avaaz.org petition that caused the biggest stir of all. In it, he called for viewers to put pressure on British businesses to sever ties with investments in Israel he says “facilitate the oppression of people in Gaza”.

Using Barclays as an example, he said the bank manages “the portfolios of an Israeli defence company called Elbit, which makes the drones that bomb Gaza.”

The petition has amassed over 1.7million signatures of support. His support of it, however, meant he was labelled an anti-Semite and received death threats.

To the CEOs of ABP, HP, Veolia, Barclays, Caterpillar, and G4S:

In the wake of the terrible violence unfolding in Israel-Palestine, we, citizens from around the world, are deeply concerned about your companies’ continued investment in companies and projects that finance illegal settlements and the oppressive occupation of the Palestinian people. 17 EU countries recently issued warnings to their citizens against doing business or investing in illegal Israeli settlements. Given those legal considerations, you now have the opportunity to withdraw investments and respect international law. This is a chance to be on the right side of history.

Just as the Wests sanctions against Russia have backfired this sort of boycott will do the same. Won't Israel supporters start to boycott services and products by Israel's enemies. I think support for the two parties is about 50/50... its a no win situation.

Remind us: how many of its opponents has Israel beheaded?

Is it:

a. none; or

b. more than none?

[A: none]

Now how many of Israel's opponents behead people?

I think the embargo on selling arms to Israel is a massive mistake. They will probably get the elsewhere, but if they don't and they start to run out and there's a chance they will be over run, you know what they'll do, don't you?

Its just a thought but do you think they've missed the fact that Israel is the 7th largest arms producer in the world. They will run out of arms about the same time that Italy runs out of icecream and Lybia runs out of sand.

total joke isn't it. The Made In Israel Uzi submachine gun is probably the most reliable and popular weapon of its kind in the world.

the Israelis are not like the Arabs. They cannot only just fly planes full of people into buildings or blow them up in the sky when they are full of people. The Israelis can design and manufacture aircraft as well, which the Arabs can't.

No it isn't, it's the AK47 which is the weapon responsible for most deaths ever and the favourite weapon of terrorists and anarchists, except maybe now the shift has moved to the Internet. The AK47 is supplied by the Russians and Chinese under licence.

the micro Uzi surely must be the weapon of choice for the urban Arab/Muslim terrorist just back from Syria who might want to rip through a UK bus queue in the name of Allah. They are much more lightweight and concealable than just about any other rapid fire alternative.

Will those boycotting Israeli goods also be boycotting medical care in the hospitals, because many of the drugs used are made in this country by an Israeli based company?

It's a pointless boycott which I certainly won't be supporting.

If anything it's more likely to make me go into Sainsbury's and purchase some Israeli goods....If I knew what actually comes directly from Israel. :hihi:

Regards

Where's the boycott of anything that comes from an Islamic source because of 9/11, 7/7 and more recently the beheading of a U.S. journalist?

Why aren't we protesting outside halal food outlets?

Why is it acceptable to do this to a Jewish state and not an Islamic one?

Now don't get me wrong, I don't support either side, Israeli or Palestinian, personally I'd nuke the entire area and then NEITHER side can stay there.
