Give it time.

Have you any idea how long Forge Dam has been around?! It's not new you know! You could suggest it's because it's a different sort of area but about a mile away from Forge Dam, there's a playground called Spider Park which opened in 2001 or 2002. That's had a bit of a thumping from the mindless minority too. There'll always be some slack jawed idiots who get their thrills from spoiling and destroying rather than doing anything positive or finding an interest. Too stupid to think.

I'm not condoning their behaviour, just offering an explanation as to why they may have done this.

But its not an explanation is it, because it has no foundation in truth at all. There are plenty of playgrounds, there are plenty of youth clubs & groups of every description. And the huge array of entertainment they can make for themselves at home with computers & games consoles is beyond the wildest things we could have imagined when we were kids.

It's just one of those platitudes people trot out when they can't think of anything original to say.

I agree with you. you had less crime in the olden days where there was less entertainment. Why because kids were brought up properly. Pitty discipline of children has gone down the tubes.

Doubtless he'll get told off and appointed a do-gooder to pamper him after he claims it's because of his under-privileged upbringing, when what the little git really needs six lace holes up his tradesman's.

Megalithic says:

>kids get bored and vandalise stuff<

Kids get bored becasue they are taught to be, by being stuck in front of a TV from the moment they are born. And ime the ones who vandalise, are those who have never ever been shown respect or taught self respect.

Don't blame the kids.... blame their parents.

Youth Clubs everywhere try to address this..

If you have children; then take the time to encourage them to get involved in a hobby from an early age; and when they get to the age where they want to be independent from their parents and hang around with their mates, doing their own thing, then subtly direct them to the nearest Youth Club one or two nights, where they will be safe and will be accepted for who they are... and also empowered to make good choices and decisions to help them in future.

The more you respect and trust a child, the straighter they grow. imo.

By all rights, he should be released apparently, he was just doing what kids do these days and it's all your fault as a police officer, if you fail to take responsibility then it must be the councils fault or the schools fault for having too many holidays and expecting the parents to look after their own children, and failing all that then blame the government for not funding more and more community projects that could be vandalised, burnt down, broken into or just abused.

What ever you, don't blame the parents for goodness sake!!!

She/He does seem to come across as a bit of a wind up merchant, forever belittling people on the forum with their non-witty replies!
