darylslinn   10 #242 Posted February 24, 2018 Still resembles a building site / demolition area sadly, but the happenings around Exchange Place with small businesses and arts coming in could be the start of something in that area. Kelham Island has sold out to the poshies "quote" and the prices for work space and living around there will continue to rise. Perhaps Castlegate is the next area to be up and coming ? The whole of Sheffield City central area has sold out to the poshies ,the people who built and made Sheffield famous through out the World have been banished to the far out skirts if indeed they can get a council property at all. We've missed your predictable ramblings about the decline of everything in the world since 1970. Bargepole23   337 #247 Posted February 25, 2018 Four years on . Nice to see the councils masterplan is working  Exchange Place. Kollider start-up incubator in the old Coop Easyhotel in the old Primark building  Not a bad start in these austere times.  Shame you spent more time deciding on which emoji to use, rather than finding out what was happening.  ---------- Post added 25-02-2018 at 11:53 ----------  Please define 'poshies'.  Those who don't miss the hovel that the Castle Market had become?  I went to a Love Cheese evening at the new Sheffield Market. It was busy, and enjoyable, especially if, like me, you love cheese.  Maybe that makes me a poshie?
 Share this content via...

Guest makapaka   #251 Posted February 27, 2018 The councils investment strategy in the past - targeting sports and leisure was very misguided.  The money should have gone in commerce and in particular the area around the old castle markets. That area of town is dead now.
 Share this content via...
Albert smith   11 #252 Posted February 27, 2018 The councils investment strategy in the past - targeting sports and leisure was very misguided. The money should have gone in commerce and in particular the area around the old castle markets. That area of town is dead now. That is because the town planners decided to move all the retail to the South of the City centre ,  The traditional trading area was allowed to fall into disrepair ,local media stated that the area was riddled with crime and people of low repute.  That same media has just this week reported that the upmarket Ecclesall Road area as well as the Moor and West Street are the crime and drug hot spots in Sheffield .
