Walkley Bank Plantation Allotments

Hi all,

 

We have just been offered 1a on Walkley Bank. Had a quick look and it looks pretty wild. Not scared of hard work but it's our first time and we are worried maybe we just don't know what we are getting into! I am a little concerned of how shaded it is in that corner. And it is a worry to be the first plot by the fence/gate. I had heard that the site is prone to vandalism but that was a while back.

 

Anyway sorry to ramble. I guess we are just looking for thoughts. Take it or don't? And any tips?

have you asked the other people on that site, they should give you an idea of things like security, soil type and what grows well. and how long since it was last worked- 10 months or ten years can make a difference to how easy it'll be o clear and how much nasty rubbish is likely to be there.

 

whatever you decide good luck and the first few years are always the hardest work.
