megalithic   10 #6 Posted July 27, 2014 you sure its alloy?? What you need it for?  Yes, it needs to be aluminium as it's to be TIG'd to an Aluminium block.  Basically the internal thread that holds the oil pressure switch on my car has a knackered internal thread, this would be welded over the bolt hole as a replacement thread. Janus   28 #7 Posted July 27, 2014 But why does it need to be only 1.5mm thick?
 Share this content via...
megalithic   10 #8 Posted July 27, 2014 But why does it need to be only 1.5mm thick?  I believe 1.5 refers to the pitch of the thread. The actual thread is 14mm.
 Share this content via...

megalithic   10 #10 Posted July 27, 2014 helicoil thread repair kit  The problem with these would be the snap off lug, and the fact the block would have to be drilled, meaning turnings could end up inside the block.
 Share this content via...

rossyrooney   12 #12 Posted July 27, 2014 Shaws Ironmongers Megs, opposite Silver Blades ice rink, if they don't have one they are all good lads and will try to put you on to where to get one.  Williams have a £20 minimum spend these days.  M14 is not a popular size either, this size is usually found on trailer air braking and the like.  ---------- Post added 27-07-2014 at 20:30 ----------  these are very good  I.F.S Sheffield Ltd is listed under the Sheffield Fasteners & Fixing Devices category and is located in 3 Edmund Rd , Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
