Can anyone recommend a good site in or near Whitby for a seasonal pitch good for children and dog friendly and also where we can leave the awning up

I looked at that one looks very nice but are the caravans safe on the cliff ? Can you leave awnings up ?

It's not a good idea to leave the awning up in my opinion.

I've lost count of the number of awnings I've seen damaged after strong winds....and the damage to the vans caused by awning poles buffering against the caravans.

I know people do leave them up but do wonder if they regret it after the event.

It's also worth considering security.

Anyone can casually enter the awning without causing concern from other campers.

Once inside they are hidden from view and have plenty of time to "break and enter" unnoticed.

My main concern if I was considering a seasonal pitch (which I'm not) would be security.

I doubt these holiday camps on the coast will be too concerned about that.
