Just had about seven comments removed on this forum, about Muslims.

But whats the point of having a comments page if you are going to remove the comments at the slightest mention of anything remotely controversial . ? It stifles all debate . its pointless. The problem is too many people spend too much time just waiting to jump on anyone who dares to mention Foreigners and playing the race card. Its the same on all online boards .

To be honest I'm surprised The Star don't moderate the comments section more heavily: there are some particularly odious views bandied around by a core group of intellectually-challenged individuals - the sort who could probably land themselves and/or The Star in hot water.

 

Does anyone know if Comrade Door uses Sheffield Forum? I'm dying to know if he/she is as wilfully ignorant - and downright stupid - as suggested in the myriad posts on The Star.

I always find the star top class and they are great sponsors of events

You should have known the Star of old, now it seems to be run by people who just haven't a clue about Sheffield, seems most of its staff are not from Sheffield and regularly quote street names and place them on different estates to where they actually are. The Retro is the best thing they produce.

Freedom of the press has nothing to do with allowing readers comments.

Generally a lot of the folk that post comments on stories on the Star website do not exhibit a high level of intellect or understanding of the subject and I imagine such a story probably attracted comments that were considered offensive, racist, libellous or inaccurate!

Although I dont read the Star. I prefer my news from here as its more accurate. However surprised people are critical of the Star's censorship. Like in this forum it has moderators that make decisions as to what to allow and what not to allow.
