Loud siren/alarm this morning in the Darnall/Littledale area

Just wondered if anyone else heard this or knows what it is/where its from. I was already awake, around 5am, when an almighty siren noise went off, waking the wife from her slumber. Somehow i got the blame for it! Im assuming its from a foundry or something like that, seems very loud though at that time in a morning! First time i have heard it, but we normally have the windows closed, with the heat we left them open.
