I used to live down ther and there used to be an old munitions dump on that site, we used to play with the shells and bullets so I know what I'm betting on.

False alarm - road re-opened

It wasn't a false alarm bomb squad been and removed an item roads are open as you said but it certainly was no false alarm!

It could have been anything as they made all sorts on Sheffield Road. I'm not sure if it would have been recorded anywhere as an ex munitions dump for reference in cases like that.
