White van in S6 area.

About 2 weeks ago 2 men in a white van with DRAINS written on in black and yellow workmens jackets on, approached my elderly neighbours house, saying they were from the water board. They went round the back of her property then came back round to the front and peered through her next door neighbours windows. (who were out at work) They were then disturbed by a relative coming to my elderly neighbours house who asked them " Are you from the water board ?" They said " Yes" Yet Yorkshire Water Board was not written on their van, and no one had asked then to come about drains. They then drove off.

Has anyone else in the S6 area been approached by these men ?

No, it does sound a little suspicious. I know sometimes Yorkshire Water employ sub-contractors to carry out works.

Someone else has told me the same thing as you, about sub-contractors,but seems strange when nobody has sent for them. Think I will check with the Water board.

I've heard about this happening in S11 rather than S6; they apparently left a card saying it was some scheme organised by Yorkshire Water to stop drains getting blocked up. So it's possible, just possible, that for once it's genuine.

To see if there's anyone in?

Most people knock on the door to find out if there's anyone in or not! They don't nosy through people's windows!

They came to us a few weeks ago to fix the sewage drain they were sent by yorkshire water.

A few weeks before we had a visit from them to inspect the sewage pipe as there had been report of a blockage further up the street and they showed me the problem.

I was a bit naughty because I was home alone and wanted to check them out so I told them that I was housesitting so I couldnt give them permission to do the work.

They left a form to fill in to give permission and tell them of any access problems etc.

I checked them out and they were genuine so the form was sent back though it wasnt signed and they promptly arrived and fixed it.

If you knock and no one answers they are either not in,in which case what would it matter if you looked through the window,or they are hoovering or wearing headphones or something and haven't heard you.If the call is important I think most people wouldn't want to miss it just because they just hadn't heard.
