bassett one   440 #13 Posted July 15, 2014 if anyone knows the person to contact in charge of the re-enactments we at the lowedges festival could add it to our re-enactment and that way the thousands of people who enjoy this entertainment wouldn't miss out,it would just mean it would be a couple of weeks earlier and just a one day event, but it is a possibility if they want to come,we do have funding and we also have the free entry,if any one can help with the idea email Stephen.rich@hotmail.co.uk
 Share this content via...

bassett one   440 #18 Posted August 19, 2014 the council have decided to do may pole dancing ect ,this year,i think its down to cost, been in contact with howard from event planner for this event for the last 10 years and meeting him in sept to discuss doing a re-enactment at the lowedges festival, although it will only be one day instead of 2 days,i think we can do a good job, especially as the Sheffield fayre biggest attendance was always the sunday,we are to do due diligence on the greenhill park site and see what its best for all concerned, but its sad to lose it from Norfolk park, but we will do our best to save re-enactment in this city for the public thanks
 Share this content via...
Jive Knight   11 #19 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) No re-enactments this year.  No re-enactments this year.  Well, if you enjoy re-enactment, why not try it from the inside? It's even more fun. Naturally I'm biased towards Knights In Battle* because I'm a member, and we practice in Sheffield every Wednesday night. But there are plenty of re-enactment societies in Sheffield covering a wide range of historical periods - from Ancient Greeks to WWII. Search on-line if you are interested in a particular period.   *New members always welcome (craftspeople etc. as well as combatants), we give you full training at an indoor facility every week except Christmas, New Year, & Holy Week, and we are involved in big events like the Battle of Bosworth re-enactment last weekend, English Heritage's History Live! multi-period show last week, as well as our own shows.  This weekend (Sun & BH Mon) we're at Fort Paull, near Hull for our end-of-season bash - always a good laugh. Closer to home is the Wars of the Roses Federation (we're members, and fought with them at Bosworth) performing at Bolsover Castle. Go along and see them and if you'd like to join a group that gets involved in that, come and say hello to us. Edited August 19, 2014 by Jive Knight Accidental double-posting. bassett one   440 #20 Posted August 19, 2014 that's great, but I believe and hope you agree we need a annual re-enactment of a reasonable scale in Sheffield at least 1 or 2 per year,we have escafed medieval society at the lowedges festival each year doing a 1 hour show and living history set up for 3 hours after, this is very much liked and we have intended to increase the scale of it,so we intend to work with the planning company and expand our re-enactment,but we like to do things correctly and proper,so we will consult with them in sept, draw up a plan and on his advice hopefully come up with a solution ,so the public don't lose out,and please note that the knights if intrested and others will be on our wish list to attend thanks
 Share this content via...
