Can anyone help me jump start my car??

Hello everyone, supposed to be getting my car picked up in Sheffield by a tow truck taking it to london tomorrow morning. However my friend has just told me that the car battery is flat! Don't know anyone with a car currently in Sheffield, is there anyone that would be able to give me a hand in the morning?? Living by the Sheffield student union.

Thanks

You would have thought the Tow Truck should have jumper cables, they're a pretty basic recovery tool.

Failing that they usually have a winch and will quite happily winch the car onto the trailer without having to start the engine.

If you are having a tow truck you may not need to start the car unless it is in your garage.

I've had a car towed straight out of a garage, I suppose it depends on what kind of access there is to be able to get the tow line in there.

The guy who is transporting it has said he would like the car running

are you in the AA or RAC, GREENFLAG, THEY WILL COME OUT EVEN IF YOUR NOT A MEMBER if you go to motor mania sell a machine that starts your car and not expensive or look on e-bay if you are friendly with your neighbours ask a few of them if tey have a charger you can borrow or a tow rope to bump start it unless it's automatic which you cand jump start it without knackering your gear box up if you live on an incline roll it down a bit put it in second gear as you get a little faster release the clutch and with the help of the accelerator it should start before you do anything put the lights on and trn the ignition to see what happens to the lights they should stay bright if they go dim then check to see it any battery cables are loose and those to the starter motor if none of these work call the AA

Is he having a laugh?? It wouldn't need towing if it was running!

Alan Hartley is correct. I would ring them and let them know that it isn't running and that is why you require the services of a tow truck...

I could help you out if you're stuck. Have some jump leads and a van. PM me with some mre info about times, vehicle etc and we'll see if we can work something out.

Thanks for the reply, I can't PM you as I do not have more than 5 threads posted. My car is a ford ka, and I'd need it done tomorrow morning as early anyone could do it! If you need any more info please contact me...
