Pink refuse bags on Sheffield streets?

I have spotted lots of PINK refuse sacks on the streets of Sheffield 10, I would guess that they have been council supplied -but why?

It says student refuse sacks on them so I am guessing they are supplied for students at the end of the year so the student areas are not left with piles of rubbish from student houses when they all move out for the summer.

Exactly right. And a great thing they are too.

 

Going back a couple of years, Broomhill was appallingly messy when the students all changed over their accomodation. The bags have largely solved the problem.

I've just gone down Club Garden Road, and there's those sacks there.

 

Unfortunately, some toerags have gone and rifled through them, tearing them open, so the contents are strewn all over. Gah!

They should sell the right to collect the bags to a private company.

 

I'd imagine there's a fair amount of clothes, bits of metal scrap and un-wanted electrics that someone could sort through and make abit of profit on.

I think you will find that Sheffield already do that, it is a company called Veolia
