I lived in Beighton up till about 6 years ago and my parents still live there.

The old pit village has changed a lot over the years but is generally a safe and friendly place to live. Crystal Peaks is on the door step which is handy but has meant that alot of the old local shops have shut down. The place has probably lost a bit of the old community feel it had, but most places have to be honest. Pubs aren't much cop IMO.

You can catch the tram into town from Crystal Peaks and the parkway gives you easy access to town by car. M1 is just up the road as well so transport links are good. Rother Valley close by as well which is good.

The primary schools are good I think but I know the secondary, Westfield School, has had a few issues.

There are pit houses on Manvers Road and Victorian terraces on Queens Road in Beighton. Sothall has different kind of housing and then there are the new estates behind what used to be the Belfry pub. So depends what kind of place you are looking for and budget?

I personally wouldn't want to live in halfway to be honest as, to use a crude term, its a bit rough. Having said that I am sure certain areas are fine.

If you have a specific questions feel free to ask.
