My first Wednesday hero. Just the one cap and he did well to get that in the era that he played in but your first hero is never bettered.

He really leathered this one.

RIP John.

John Fantham played in the best team I ever saw play for Wednesday, with Springett, Swan, Kay,Young,Finney, and the other lads what a team in the early 60s

Just sinking in.

A great, great loss.

Thanks for the photos CB and Jim.

A great player in a great side, and what a goalscorer.

Farewell Johnny.

Sad news. One of the all time Wednesday greats. My first match at Hillsborough on 15th March 1958 was I believe his first league game. I still have the programme.

My Dad played alongside JF in their younger years. Always said he was a cracking lad and a real talent! God Bless a genuine legend

RIP John Fantham. I remember him as a player I wish had been a Blade.

RIP to a legend, I never saw him play but heard so much about him from those who did and it was all good. As has been said, hard to find such loyalty these days and in such a genuinely good guy. My condolences to his family and friends.
