Cheap MOT from an honest garage?

Recommended Posts

Hi All - I'm new to Sheffield and am looking for a cheap MOT at an honest garage in the area. Anybody have any recommendations please? Thanks! :)

Find a place that just does MOTs and no other work. They have no incentive to make up advisorys/fails since they won't be doing the work.

We've always used Amberley garage on Attercliffe Common for repairs and service/MOT. Never had any problems with them.

Avoid the larger testing garages like dealerships as they tend to be very picky and look for every tiny fault they can fail it on. You are better off at a small back street garage that might not be so nosy . ;)

That's the sort of garage that you need, one that doesn't do the test properly.

You can always trust traders who cut corners. Especially those related to personal safety.

Go on, knock yourself out.... erm... sorry.

Cutting corners or just Not looking for faults that dont exist so they can charge you £50 per hour labour + parts to do the "Repairs" . ?

A +1 for Atkinsons for me, they are an honest garage in the S6 area

Others I use are

BJ Mason, Broadfield Road (Between Abbeydae Rd and Chesterfield Rd)

DL Autos, off Rutland Road bottom, S3

All 3 of these have given nothing but honest service (as a DIY mechanic and having been involved in the motor trade)

I also rate Autocraft services behind Bramall Lane BP garage - but I should say that they ARE a little stricter than some but don't overcharge for work. But being strict isn't a bad thing if you're talking about evaluating a metal box you are going to hurtle your family around in at 70 or 80

Yes because driving around in a dangerous vehicle is great so long as you save a few quid
