Street disorder and fighting Page Hall 11.30pm 14/06/14

Genuinely I think the Spin Doctors behind the walks of Page Hall's PACA, who said the recently widely publicised brawl was an "isolated incident" beed to take a step outside.

Since then there has been nearly nightly issues regarding Roma gang fighting cumulating in an all out street fight in the middle of Firth Park Road. 2 groups were chasing each other, shouting, throwing bottles and I saw at least one if them pulling wooden stakes out of supports for sapling trees outside my house.

Luckily my 17 year old had just come back after a friends birthday party, otherwise he'd have been caught up in it.

I called 999 and the police came within 5 minutes.

I spoke to them about it and had every sympathy, but that doesn't alter the fact there is no change in attitudes.

Toby Foster belittled a caller's comments when he said he'd recently dropped a friend off on Bolsover Road having come from Greenhill and felt intimidated.

Foster said he'd felt more intimidated in Sheffield Cith Centre on a Friday night.

I challenge Toby and indeed, anyone else to cone to Page Hall in the evening and see if they agree.

Nothing will change while Labour remain in power I'm afraid, very sad to see our city declining by the day.

I'm what some people might call a "lefty". However, such behaviour as you describe ,cannot be tolerated anywhere-no matter who commits it. If it persists

it then illustrates a serious problem in the policing of Sheffield.

 

People can debate what they think are the causes for such outbreaks. But there's no justification -whatsoever- for the kind of violence you describe.

 

I was caught up in the riots that took place in Tottenham. I was on my way home from work. I can tell you that the experience is terrifying.

 

Hopefully the "old bill" can eradicate such outbreaks. I moved to Sheffield to get away from the "shadow" of mass street violence.

Why don't you get together a few concerned residents and mount a public protest outside the Town Hall? Get the media involved and they might start listening.

We've spent a lot of time and effort trying to get the likes of David Blunkett, Ibrar Hussain, Talis Hussain, Jacquie Drayton and the police interested. Sometime it's like banging your head against a brick wall. The press has been widely involved; but then today's news is tomorrow's fish and chop paper!!

The Pakistani Advice Centre is little use to the existing residents also as they reciw be a large amount of funding to serve the Toma community, therefore knowing what side on which their bread is buttered.

I understand Hexthorpe in Doncaster is starting to experience similar issues and I wish them better luck.

According to an article in the Express yesterday 500 people of Roma heritage have moved into Hexthorpe since January
