On 29th November 2010, Sheffield Wednesday were almost down and out. The taxman was repeatedly pursuing winding up orders. The club had no means of support and was crippled by debt and years of mismanagement. Up stepped Milan Mandaric.

 

He obtained the club for £1. Probably a little bit overpriced if you look at things objectively.

 

Since then we've made solid progress on and off the pitch. Mandaric has put his hand into his pocket to keep the club progressing. We've made some remarkable loan signings, Wickham and Barkley spring to mind most readily. We've won promotion at the expense of our city rivals and then consolidated our Championship status.

 

Now, true to his word, he's sold us on to a man who can help us to take the next steps back to the Premier League.

 

Thank you, Milan. You saved my club, then rehabilitated it. I'm grateful.
