rmjohns2 Â Â 10 #1 Posted May 28, 2014 Hi all, Â Our hallway / stairs and landing are in desperate need for some updating. Needs re-plastering/skimming (I think), skirting replacing, new wood flooring in the downstairs hall, new coving (maybe), new light fittings, repainting walls, windows, coving, new carpet/runner up the stair, new attic hatch etc etc. Â A few questions for people who are in this field. Â 1. Is better getting a single company in who can do the whole lot (apart from the carpet maybe) or get people to do this separately (I'm guessing the logistics of this may be difficult (getting the order right etc) Â 2. Coving. The coving is all in very good condition, but will need to come off to re-plaster...correct? If so, is it better to strip the paint off this and repaint or buy new? Â 3. We are looking at the idea of getting a runner for the stairs and exposing the wood. Good or bad idea? Cost effective? Â Any recommendations / advice would be great! Â Thanks! mlfc   10 #3 Posted May 28, 2014 I'd look at getting a builder to run the job and bring in subbies as needed excluding the carpet. Where are you based? I know a builder/joiner that would be happy to quote
 Share this content via...
