This election isn't just about Brexit. It's about what happens afterwards. We could have another 5 years of the Tories. I wonder how many more people they can finish off in that time?

You mean when it actually won elections.   How odd.

Yep. Won another Election to carry on implementing watered down Thatcher policies, which the Tory voters found very attractive.

He had the luxury of stupid' Labour' voters and stupid Tory voters backing his non Labour policies.

He couldn't lose really. Whilst he was in, the man and woman in the street gained nothing of any note. (PFI ? )

Blair was never Labour. Not even close to it.

What is Labour if not a broad church but the further left you go will turn the stupid voters has you call them away. The average man and woman sit in the middle ground and will listen to both sides unlike you that’s blinkered to anything that differs from your socialist utopia.

And that's the typical bile I now see constantly from current Labour voters.

Considering the popularity there must have been a lot of "stupid" people in the country back then.

Or maybe you're just one of Scargill's dinosaur Socialist Labour lot?

Both your replies confirm that this country is destined to continue in the same uncomfortable, unsure, sinking vein that it's been in since 1979.

Our country is in a mess, Europe is in a mess, and the USA is in a mess.

All three areas have been in right wing hands for the recent past, and all three areas get worse year by year.

The UK and the USA especially, quote everything in monetary terms (money, after all is all that matters to them) and, not satisfied with forgetting about the social side of things, they continually lie about how good their financial plans are working, and how good they are for the country, when in reality, the growth and wealth of both areas are grossly exaggerated to cement their positions as 'best for the country'.

Both countries are in unprecedented debt and continue to sink further, whilst painting an all so rosy picture.

There's no need for personal remarks (I don't call you, so don't  call me).

And yes, there were millions of stupid people. There still  is. Tory voters for starters.

I don't know which way either of you vote, I've not read the whole thread.

We are in debt no doubt.  Labour under Corbyn and McDonnells policies will shove us deeper and deeper into the mire. And I’ve not heard anything about everything being rosy from any politicians. You can’t just borrow yourself out of debt simply because the more you borrow the more you owe and the deeper and deeper you sink.

The establishment still calls the shots and Blair watered down the Labour Party until it became acceptable.

The current Labour Party is not acceptable to the establishment hence the unprecedented attacks on it particularly Corbyn. If Labour loses this election, suddenly all the character assassination and the antisemitism row will mysteriously vanish.

Job done!

(my bold) So it was all rosy between 1974-79 with 20% inflation, rising unemployment, IMF bailout and strikes?

It’s not just the establishment who find the current Labour Party unacceptable but many of it’s traditional supporters.

Which is not surprising  having been constantly fed anti Corbyn propaganda
